Pbd's 5 moves for the week
September 27, 2021
1. Reflect

"Opinion is really the lowest from of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding." -Plato

Your Move

Express more empathy and fewer opinions.

2. Stat of the week

Cash bonuses are logical. They have their place, but the benefit wears off quickly. Experiences, on the other hand, create life-long memories, intense bonding, and team building that you can't put a price on.

Your Move

Be very thoughtful about every gift you give and every incentive you create. Walk in the shoes of the receiver and think hard about what makes them tick and what will make the biggest impact on them.

3. Strategize

Are you taking advice from "successful" people? If so, have you checked their credentials and confirmed their results?

Your Move

Stop taking advice from "experts" without challenging it. In this video, I break down 10 common nuggets of wisdom that I take issue with (including living a "balanced" life). One quick tip: have more urgency and more of a “now” mentality. Thinking you have all the time in the world is bad advice that often has major costs--especially when there is a client issue.

4. Read

The Schumacher documentary on Netflix about the German Formula One racing driver Michael Schumacher.

Your Move

Don’t just watch documentaries. Study them. Take notes. Ask yourself key questions and process it with other deep thinkers. Lastly, don’t forget the popcorn.

5. Perspective

Children...yours or others. My heart was full this week celebrating Dylan's 8th birthday and watching Dylan and Tico's ji-jitsu sparring matches.

Your Move

Make a gratitude list this weekend and start every day this week by reading it.
