Pbd's 5 moves for the week

1. Reflect

A technique to stop blaming others and re-gain your power: Substitute the word "I" for whoever you are blaming, add the word because, and then fill in the blank. Instead of, "My business partner ruined my vacation, say, "I ruined my vacation because I set poor boundaries."

Your Move

Fight any temptation to:

Society is actively recruiting all of the above. You avoid joining the victim club when you start sentences with "I" to accept responsibility and re-gain your power. .

2. Stat of the week

Analytics are essential to scaling and building a real business that can run without you and sustain success.

Your Move

Develop a news lens to look at data. Watch this video to see what I mean. You'll learn how to differentiate descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and perspective analytics. The key question will be: Do you have the patience and long-term outlook to invest in analytics and continually work "on" the business instead of just "in" the business.

3. Strategize

The best time to make a decision is when you're in a neutral state--not happy and not angry. Unless it's a rare emergency, you are almost always better off waiting a day to avoid making decisions while you're emotional.

Your Move

Think about the 10 worst decisions you have made in your life. Look for trends to see what type of state you were in when you made those bad decisions. Going forward, rather than decide in the moment, learn to say,, "Let me think about it and get back to you." As you'll see in this video I made, once you've had time to sleep on it and eliminate emotion, you will make a better decision.

4. Read

It seems like I'm constantly recommending Power vs. Force by David Hawkins--and for good reason. It's the book-of-the-month at Valuetainment, and I'm already seeing positive changes in our team.

Your Move

Buy it, read it, and study it. You will see that cynical skepticism comes from fear. Optimism comes from self-confidence. When you find yourself being cynical, check in with yourself to find the source of the fear.

5. Perspective

Your health! I hired a new trainer and he's been kicking my butt. I hate him every minute of the workout and love him when it's over.

Your Move

Put health in the calendar. Whether it's workouts, physical therapy, massages, or any type of fitness or self-care, treat it like an appointment. Vague goals like "I want to get in shape" lead to vague action plans, which lead to lousy results.
