Pbd's 5 moves for the week
November 13, 2021
1. Reflect

I want to spend as much time as possible with my family. Exercise is a priority, and I would like even more time for it. I like to read and watch movies for pleasure. That being said, my schedule is dictated by my VISION, not by striving for work-life balance.

Your Move

Solve for who YOU want to be and YOUR vision. If you have a massive vision and want to build an empire, work-life balance is a fantasy. On the other hand, you can make a nice living and still make work-life balance a reality.

2. Stat of the week

Can you describe a great day in your business? Can you do so in a way that is REPLICABLE AND TRANSFERABLE for future leaders in your business? If you're speaking in generalities, how can you expect others to have a road map that guarantees success?

Your Move

Know your formulas. Have specific numbers that define a perfect week, month, quarter, and year. Of course there's a human element to leading people, but too many leaders miss the importance of creating objective metrics. My challenge to you is define excellence through numbers that you can measure.

3. Strategize

How do you create loyalty? Do you wait for people to step up and produce before you lead them with your time, energy, and resources? Do you lead with generosity or do you wait to receive before you give?

Your Move

Follow the principle of always giving more than people give you. To be a leader, you have to set the example, which means constantly giving more and believing more than those you lead.

4. Read

Earn the Right to Win by Tom Coughlin, the Super Bowl-winning football coach.

Your Move

Learn from Coughlin that you need to stretch people to help them achieve their full potential. According to him, the most powerful way to do this is by having the courage to say, “I believe in you.” These four words constitute the most inspirational message a leader can convey

5. Perspective

Free speech. In the U.S., we are granted this right from the First Amendment. You keep hearing about it because it's under attack by cancel culture.

Your Move

Watch the video I made about cancel culture. Learn a surefire approach to avoid being cancelled--which is another term for public execution and character assassination..
