Pbd's 5 moves for the week
July 3, 2022
1. Reflect

The biggest threat to your ultimate success is the comfort that comes with the money and recognition you get on the way up. Obsession to a vision can't slow down.

Your Move

When you keep your focus on the vision (instead of the money), you won't slow down. To do so, you better get clear WHY you are on your path.

2. Stat of the week

The way you deal with a recession, or any uncertainty, is to think at least five moves ahead. You can also call this PPP: Predict, prepare, persevere.

Your Move

Read this article to see what Musk is doing. Here are four ideas from the article: 1. Put big risks on pause; 2. Cut back on superfluous spending; 3. Reduce costly overhead; 4. Avoid high-interest debt. Remember that what worked in a low-inflation, low interest-rate environment likely won't work moving forward.

3. Strategize

If you don't like to talk about politics and prefer to keep your views to yourself, that strategy may backfire if you have kids. Their minds are being bombarded with other people's views who are trying to indoctrinate them. What happens if they are not hearing yours?

Your Move

Talk to your kids about issues. Have the hard conversations about topics like abortion, guns, and gender. You need to be the most consistent voice in their heads sharing your principles and values. The added pressure of having to live up to your words to your kids will bring out the best in you.

4. Read

The Founders: The Story of PayPal and the Entrepreneurs Who Shaped Silicon Valley by Jimmy Soni

Your Move

Studying greatness has to be part of your playbook. This is an opportunity to learn from some of the best entrepreneurs in the game like Elon Musk, Amy Rowe Klement, Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman, Julie Anderson, and Max Levchin.

5. Perspective

Independence. We celebrate the United States' independence from England with fireworks on July 4. I celebrate it daily!

Your Move

Keep fighting the big and small fights for independence.

Future Looks Bright!
