Pbd's 5 moves for the week
January 21, 2023
1. Reflect

Entitlement and a lack of gratitude are close cousins. Let it be known that they are not welcome in your business and your life.

Your Move

Say thank you. Write thank you notes. Go out of your way to be kind. Teach this to your family and your team, and much more important, SHOW that you are grateful and live a life of kindness, generosity, and gratitude.

2. Stat of the week

Know your own weaknesses and create strategies to counteract them. Systems are a secret weapon against bad habits.

Your Move

If you have a tendency to be lazy, fill up your calendar and make commitments to others so that you don't have a choice but to deliver.

3. Strategize

How do you measure ambition, grit, and heart? What questions do you ask in an interview and what tests do you give to determine traits that we associate with character?

Your Move

Find ways to measure character. Skill and experience are only a smart part of success. If you want to build the right culture and develop exceptional talent, you need to find a way to measure character and lock on to the people who have it.

4. Read

This iconic clip of Bill Belichick pushing Wes Welker's buttons. What I love about it is in the heat of a game, Belichick finds a way to motivate a player who is injured (if you don't know who Wally Pipp is, look him up). Belichick never stops finding ways to get the most out of people.

Your Move

Stop trying to be everybody's best friend. To lead people, you often have to make them uncomfortable, If that makes you uncomfortable, you have work to do as a leader.

5. Perspective

Free speech, debate, and alternative media. As much as we hear about censorship, the U.S. is still a place where a guy like me can speak his mind, challenge people (and narratives), and connect with like-minded Valuetainers who yearn for the TRUTH.

Your Move

Choose your media and social media sources wisely. Also, start speaking up and sharing YOUR truth. Freedom of speech is not something to take for granted. Check out Dennis Prager on the podcast last week.
