Pbd's 5 moves for the week
February 5, 2022
1. Reflect

Forget stocks, gold, crypto, or real estate, no currency is worth more than attitude.

Your Move

Watch this short video I made and see if you agree about the value of attitude. Better yet, focus on attitude--one of the few things you can control--and watch every part of your life get better.

2. Stat of the week

If my team wanted to make me an ineffective leader, the first step would be to find a way to prevent me from accessing DATA. Without data, people can hide, and it's nearly impossible to manage. Without data, a CEO/manager can only rely on instinct, which is not enough.

Your Move

Get serious about analytics. Spend the money on technology, talent, and systems so you can MEASURE everything that happens in your business. It's never a bad idea to re-watch or re-read the book/film Moneyball.

3. Strategize

If you're looking to plan a trip for a reward or for team building, impact is more important than duration. Especially now with travel/cruise restrictions, look for creative offsites that don't require too much travel. One day is often enough.

Your Move

Get your team addicted to being pampered. One amazing spa, restaurant, exotic car or travel experience will make them want to keep going back. Your job as a leader is to find ways to "move" your team in a way that they'll keep working to pay the price to experience it again.

4. Read

The Late Shift: Letterman, Leno, & the Network Battle for the Night by Bill Carter.

Your Move

Become a history student for your industry. Every story, case study, podcast, or book that is relevant to your industry must be read...and studied. History will keep repeating itself--unless you can apply its lessons.

5. Perspective

Free speech

Your Move

Be mindful of censorship and fight it at every turn. When you see people trying to discourage debate, the reason is rarely for the benefit of society.
