Pbd's 5 moves for the week
February 13, 2022
1. Reflect

Paranoia is your friend. If you stop worrying about your competition, your employees, your market, your cash flow, or any potential threat that could hurt your business, that's when trouble finds you.

Your Move

Learn how to identify and exploit the key moments in your industry that generate both drastic failure and incredible success. If you spot your competitors getting cocky, it could be an opportunity to make a big move.

2. Stat of the week

What is your replacement plan for everyone in your organization? How many steps back would you take if you lost any of your most valuable employees?

Your Move

Get serious about building systems and replicating talent (that includes you). If you have the right culture, the right systems, the right comp. plan, and the right recruiting plan, you will never be at the mercy of any of your employees or partners.

3. Strategize

Have you looked at your 2022 business plan since you wrote it? Now that we're six weeks into the year, you need to know what's working, why, and how you plan to double down on opportunities and/or fix your leaks.

Your Move

Study what you spent so much time writing at the beginning of the year. Working ON the business has to be a constant. Don't allow the day-to-day demands of your business take you away from reflection and strategy.

4. Read

The drama of the NBA trading deadline. For the Brooklyn Nets vs. the 76ers in Philly on March 10, I saw courtside seats selling for $9,000/ticket. This could be Part 2 of Malice in the Palace. 🚩 It will take some time to see who won the Harden-Simmons trade, but at this point, I'm more interested in the Super Bowl.

Your Move

Do your weekly planning before the Super Bowl...and pay attention to who calls in sick on Monday. According to industry estimates, the Super Bowl costs American businesses well over $4 billion, I'm always watching everyone on my team to see who is really committed. I look at the Monday after the Super Bowl as a test.

5. Perspective

Freedom

Your Move

I realize that we all have different degrees of freedom, and circumstances play a role. That's why I believe that entrepreneurship is the best avenue to create freedom for yourself and your family. Control what you can and be grateful for the freedom you have.
