Pbd's 5 moves for the week
December 11, 2021
1. Reflect

If you no longer look at your business plan after February, you didn’t write a business plan. You wrote a wish list.

Your Move

If you want to learn how to make 2022 your best year ever and lay the foundation for an amazing 20-year run, join me on December 20 for a full-day Business Planning Workshop

2. Stat of the week

You need to have a plan for dealing with inflation. I appreciate this can be confusing, especially for busy entrepreneurs who are more focused on running their business than following monetary policy.

Your Move

Listen to E.B. Tucker on the podcast. Let me be clear: I'm not saying to follow his advice and buy gold. What I am saying is do your homework to figure out a strategy to protect your wealth and your spending power.

3. Strategize

Appreciate the art of life.

Your Move

I took my family to Art Basel last weekend, and it was phenomenal for everyone. I know I talk a lot about efficiency and hard work, but let's not forget the value of literature, art, and family time.

4. Read

A documentary from 2007 called The Pixar Story. Sometimes we replace book-of-the-month with a movie or documentary. I wanted our team at Valuetainment to see how Pixar built a culture that fostered creativity and a winning environment.

Your Move

Consider adding a movie followed by a group discussion to your next company meeting.

5. Perspective

The ability to control your mind. Marcus Aurelius said, "You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength."

Your Move

Stay focused on the things you can control. Sometimes we get so concerned with market forces and competition that we forget to build our own internal strength.
