Be honest with yourself. Better to set a small goal and crush it than pretend you are satisfied when falling short of your own expectations.
Exaggerate how hard your opponent is working. Ali did it with Frazier. All the greats do it to remind themselves that their enemies might be outworking them.
Stay paranoid. Assume your competition wakes up every day thinking about how to put you out of business. That fuel will force you to increase your urgency.
How will the market expose your weaknesses and insecurities? What blind spots are you missing, or what flaws are you ignoring?
Be patient and impatient. Take the long view when it comes to your vision and building long-term value. Be urgent when it comes to getting better and fighting threats.
This quote from Mark Twain: "The man who does not read books has no advantage over the man who can't read them."
Make a list of the three topics you want to focus on in 2024. Better to go deep than wide. Once you know the three topics, pick at least six books and study them carefully.
Your enemies!!! When a leader doesn't have an enemy, a team gets distracted. There's no fuel. People are bored and can't wait for meetings to end.
Identify the enemy of yourself, your family, and your team. If you need guidance on how to get there, you can't miss the Business Planning Workshop this Friday at 9 am EST.
