Pbd's 5 moves for the week
April 9, 2022
1. Reflect

Anything you give attention to gets bigger. Therefore, STOP telling horror stories in group meetings or with people you lead. It's a subtle form of victimhood and a cry for sympathy.

Your Move

Share your challenges privately with your peers or managers. If you find yourself telling the sad story too many times, ask why. These stories hurt your brand and don't inspire anyone.

2. Stat of the week

Are you constantly in situations where you feel you have to deal with people you don't like or respect? Do you find yourself drained by people who you feel stuck working with? Ask yourself why you're in these situations and why you continue to tolerate them.

Your Move

Work your tail off so you can operate from a position of strength. Freedom means choices. Decide who you want as investors, partners, running mates, employees, and customers. Then, build up your life and business so that you're constantly choosing who you run with.

3. Strategize

“The line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being.” -Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Soviet dissident and Russian novelist

Your Move

Instead of trying to label people as good or bad, start to see that all of us have strengths and flaws. That includes you! When you find yourself judging someone's flaws, remind yourself that it's because you haven't accepted your own.

4. Read

Ricky Gervais on the View sharing deep wisdom.

Your Move

Remember this quote from Gervais, "If you can laugh in the face of adversity, you're bulletproof." If you find yourself triggered, do the hard internal work to figure out WHY this is bothering you.

5. Perspective

Adversity. Whatever you’re going through right now has a lifespan. Pain has a lifespan. Challenges have a lifespan. Once you get through it, adversity will make you stronger.

Your Move

Do your best to process the current challenge without over-reacting. Judge less and find ways to improve YOU! It all works itself out.
